More efforts needed to close STEM gender gap at tertiary level – officials

Rwanda has made progress in advancing the participation of women and girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, particularly within primary and secondary education. However, officials and experts say that further efforts are necessary to bridge the gender gap in tertiary education and research. Rwandan women’s return to fertility varies with birth control methods – new study

Rwandan women who use barrier (such as condoms) and traditional (such as periodic abstinence or withdrawal) birth control methods are more likely to get pregnant again within a year, in contrast to those utilising longer-term methods like contraceptive implants or injections, a new study published in the RBC journal has found.
