Mbonigaba Ismael was sentenced to 32 months imprisonment


Ismael Mbonigaba, a Rwandan resident of Saint-Anselme, Quebec in Canada was on Friday sentenced to 32 months imprisonment after being found guilty of sexual assault on minors.

His case was tried by Saint Joseph Court in Canada as reported by a Canadian newspaper  “La Voix du Sud”.

The charges were related to touching and sexual assault on three teenage girls between September 2012 and June 2014, as well as computer lures.

Judge Jean-Paul Aubin also ruled that he provides a DNA sample, a 10 years weapons prohibition, and upon release, prohibited from going close to places frequented by three-year-olds.

He was also declared a sex offender in perpetuity.

Mbonigaba’s case was heard in a closed session and since July 2016, a rule preventing the disclosure of the details of the proceedings had been released.

Mbonigaba worked for Umuseso Newspaper before he left Rwanda to Canada where he worked as a volunteer at Alpha Bellechasse Foundation which later sacked him.
